The 5 signals a company needs people
The five things to listen and look for: "slammed" talk, expansion, Now Hiring signs, turnover grumbles, and the direct ask.
This is the most important lesson in the Academy. Five patterns to watch for. Spot any one of them and you've got a lead worth texting in.
1. "We're slammed" talk
Overheard complaints about overtime, missed deadlines, short crews, mandatory weekends, people pulling doubles. When someone says "we can't keep up," that company needs people.
2. Visible expansion
New construction, a second shift starting up, new equipment being installed, the building next door getting fitted out. Growth almost always means hiring.
3. "Now Hiring" signs
Banners, yard signs, marquee boards, even a sheet of printer paper taped to a glass door. Lowest effort, highest volume signal. If you see one — text it in.
4. Turnover grumbling
A supervisor or worker at another company complaining about people quitting, no-shows, or "we just can't keep anyone." Turnover is hiring in disguise.
5. The direct ask
Anyone who says "who do you work through?" or "we can never find good people" or "do you know anyone looking?" That's a five-alarm lead.
